Do not listen to the people trying to tell you what or what not to do that have no scientific basis. I applaud your data driven mentality. Absolutes and rules of thumb (ie your tank is too young to be doing X...) are not helpful because they lack the specificity needed to understand what is really going on. So kudos to

It's easy to spot the anecdotal vs scientific.. and overall we are just shooting the breeze, so to speak. I'm kinda thinking I want to do it on a small scale to start. I've already broken all the rules. Lol.

Do you have any bio media in your tank? Bare bottom? Curious as well.

My system has a shallow sand bed, less than an 1" deep. Very old Caribbean live rock, transferred from different tanks through the years, 120-140 lbs aprox
