Current parameters
Nitrate 3ppm
Phos .04
Alk 10.1
Calc 440
Mag 1290
Sal 1.026

29g two tunze 6015 and 2 ai primes running ab plus program
want to try a maxima clam soon, but it made me thinking of the livestock i have in the aquarium is adding up in $.

What are some good measures to have if things go south. My return is a sicce return so im not that scared of that failing, i guess i could always using my protein skimmers pump as the main return. Thinking about plugging my eheim heater into an inkbird and replacing the heater once a year.Buying a small generator.

What are you currently keeping in the tank? Are lps and sps doing well? If so, then you should be ready for a clam.

You would need to boost your Ca to 460-480 as clams take up a lot of Ca. I had mine in a JBJ 28g nano cube for 3 years before upgrading to a Red Sea E-260

I have 9 frags of lps and a large torch. Im getting dkh consumption. Everthing is extending sweepes at night and others are in the process of splitting.

Clams are fairly easy. However they do suck alk/ca at a very fast pace. Which means you might need to dose if you are not dosing and keep the levels stable. They are easier than sps imo, probably at par with LPS.

The bigger clam the better. Sometimes really small ones can be a bit harder for first time clam owners. Pacific East Aquaculture has really nice, healthy ones.

Im only getting a measly .4 dkh a week. With a clam would i be seeing a daily consumption that is noticible. I mixed up my brs 2 part 3 months ago and still havent been able to use it :)
