My 57g has been up and running now for 2.5 weeks. Live Carib Sea, dry rock (Marco Rocks), and used instant ocean bio-spira along with a seeded rock from another tank in the sump. Had my ammonia spike and no diatoms. I tested my water for the last 3 nights and I am at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and .10ppm nitrates. Just for peace of mind as it has been a long time since I have cycled a tank, I am safe to assume that the tank has cycled without a diatom bloom? I know that this will come at some point, just wanted to see what you guys thought.

I did mine fast but I didn't run lights while I was cycling and I didn't get that at all. But I hard cycled with pure ammonia. But sounds like you may be OK I would just stock slow and watch for ammonia.

I stocked before the diatom hit because it was ready. I threw a clown in on day 6. 3 years and 5 months later that clown is still in there just as happy as can be.

Clowns can actually in the old days go through the whole cycle lol
