Amino Acids causing BJD?

For the last several months, I have lost a ton of torches to BJD. The common denominator for me is right after I dose amino acids. I did a whole tank treatment of Cipro and tossed the bottle of Amino Acids away.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

The only more or less logical explanation I can find is that you are giving the pathogens that cause BJD in your corals a nutrient source by adding amino acids.

What I have found (this part is purely anecdotical so take it with a grain of salt) is that target feeding AA solutions to corals can irritate them, so if you target feed AAs, try to avoid that.

BJD is most likely not a single disease but rather a whole bunch of different diseases that share similar symptoms, so it's not unlikely that a few pathogens profit from amino acids just as much as corals.

I agree that the pathogen is always present in our tanks, and opportunistic.. hopefully the long cipro dose I just did eliminated the strain or at least severely weakened it
