Not sure if I am over reacting or on point. Please give me your opinions.

I have a QT tank - 29 gallon that I currently have a bonded pair of longnose hawks, a tailspot blenny and a midas blenny
Feed 1 large meal a day

Did a 2.5 gallon water change on Saturday. Today I look at the ammonia alert badge and it is still in the safe zone but slightly darker then before. Not even remotely close to the next signal that would show me ammonia. However, I check my ammonia with a test kit and it is at 0.50 so obviously a concern. Nitrates at 0.40

Did a 5 gallon water change just now

Question/Concern is why isn't the ammonia badge alerting me?
I dose with Choloroquine Phosphate, so not sure this makes the badge invalid?

Super curious!

The badge reads 0. I did the water change still of course but concerned if it will be valid for the future.
