I can't seem to get my tanks ammonia to drop lower then 0.50,How can I get it to lower and how bad is this? Thanks

So it’s not that you need a new test kit, its that you don’t. With no test kit, we know what your ammonia is at contextually

No variances will occur to change this outcome, your ammonia is in the thousandths ppm as we speak as long as you can visually see your fish and none are dead in the rocks. Even if that happens, the max you’ll hit is hundredths ppm and that’s been pointed out above as max safe range.

at no time in reefing history has someone’s normal-looking display ever reached and held at tenths ppm, it’s not possible due to the laws of active surface area.

after a cycle completes (none take longer than sixty days even if you added no feed or bottle bac, naturally completed) we do not have to test for ammonia or nitrite for the life of the display. Don’t buy a new kit, retire this current one.

Welcome to,R2R and the salty world. Brandon shows that healthy fish indicate no ammonia problems. That should reassure you. For others tests consider Hannah for DKH and phosphate RedSea or Salifert for the rest. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.
