It's my first time having a tank with a sump and filter socks, there are a lot of amphipods in the tank and looks like they enjoy the roller coaster ride to leave the sump, get pushed up by the return pump, then hang out for a while on DT, and one day just jump into the overflow and make the fall to sump again, just to get trapped in the filter sock... Last time there were some may of them that almost had to put all the crap captured by the sock back in the tank to save them. What do you do to avoid mass killing of Amphipods when you clear the filter socks?

Cheers

I usually soak my sock for 24 hours before change today i noticed it was over flowing there was 50 of these big amphipods in there what i did was turn sock inside out dump into salt bucket the other sock has been in for a day and scoop them out to dump back into tank most are ate by the tang and wrasse right away

@Difrano they literally multiply like flies. I have them all over my tank. I think that if the dumber ones are hitting the filter sock then you are still ok :P
