Hi. The whole day yesterday my second anemone that we bought last week didn’t look good. Its head was on the sand. In the evening it completely unattached from the rock. It looks like this. It’s not stink (I read on forum, that dead anemone is extremely stinky). But it’s not moving and something slimy coming from it. Here are some photos and link to video.

Tank parameters and how old?

Not a good sign. Slime could be from stress, expelling zooxanthellae or its just slowing disintegrating.

You will know in the next few hours. If you have an acclimation box or breeder box to place it in to keep an eye on it. That would be my go to route.

Or just leave it alone on the rocks and watch it over a few hours.

55 gallons tank, process of stabilization (I forgot how it’s called) finished about a month ago. We have another anemone of the same species, we bought it about three weeks ago. It looks good. This one didn’t “bloom” fully from day one, but I thought it just need some time to acclimate. It moved from one rock to another that I took like a good sign, but… unfortunately I don’t have box.

Its not long enough sadly for nems in the tank. I've learned this the hard way. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it makes it difficult. I'd keep an eye on the first nem. Some are just stronger than others I guess.

Has the nem moved since then? If its still moving after you dropped it back in the tank from your last video. Its a good sign the foot is still intact and its just finding a spot. If its still in the same spot or found itself on the sandbed covered. I'd personally toss it.

Unfortunately it’s dead. Didn’t move and started to decompose. And smell was horrible. First one doing good so far. We ordered new filters, because water looks slightly cloudy now. We checked ammonia level and it’s looks in the middle between 0.25 and 0.50, so I guess I had to take it out little earlier. I hope new filters will help.

Sorry to hear, and yea sadly in the state it was in. I figured the 2 hour window was correct.
Do a partial water change and make sure your running activated carbon.
