If you have ammonia your tank is not ready for anemone to begin with. Ammonia is bad and can wipe everything and you added way to much to your tank way to fast and that is where the ammonia is coming from.
Also camel shrimp are not reef safe.

Well crap, liveaquaria just talked about non stinging anemones and some softies as possible targets. When the anemone went to hiding it was in the cave with the shrimp and it didn't move, they moved. Maybe I got lucky?

Just checked the nem, it seems to be doing better, I moved my light up higher when I got home. It's mouth is closing and he has puffed up some and has gotten some color back. I'll leave him alone and do a partial water change, 2 gallons Sunday. Going to mix the water and aerate tomorrow

Update: just looked again, mouth is almost closed! And back to original size- circumference wise, and about half his arms or tenticals are expanded!

I did, I went back and forth if I should, but figured if he didn't want to he wouldn't. I had a couple of the chromis that died in the freezer and a shrimp, cut a tiny piece of chromis and gave it to him, missed the mouth but he grabbed it moved it, took awhile but he did it.

Did he eat it? Like actually take it in and eat it? And is that when he started coming around?

Yeah, took awhile for him to get to his mouth, 1/2 hour or so, but he ate it. Came back a couple hours later and he looked a lot better

Thanks for posting the video! pretty good info. the only thing after watching about 5 minutes is the whole feeding thing. It could just be me but they are an organism, they can eat, and if they eat, they are going to poop. doesn't mean you don't feed them. I eat, and poop, do i stop eating because i am pooping? not really lol. But thank you anyway. All the help is appreciated!

BTAs don't need direct feeding if the tank is being well maintained. They will inhale all kinds of bits of food, and the clownfish often grab food and bring it back to the anemone too. I haven't target fed any of those anemones in that video in years, and they look very healthy. I feed the fish often, and when food hits the water, the anemones' mouths change into feeding mode. They look like big hungry lips, and they filter in what they need. If I did feed them krill or silversides, I'd also encounter far more poop (uneaten food the anemone couldn't fully ingest and would thus expel) which would add to water quality issues.

I give the advice to only feed them if you must, and then a piece of meaty food like shrimp the size of a lima bean once a week.

So looking this morning before work, no idea where the little guy went to. Last night after feeding he puffed up this foot and was ready to be on the move. I guess he doesn't want me to be looking at him at the time.

Glad its doing better.
Great video. As I said, I have never fed mine. Started with one and now I have five. The key is to just let them be. They will roam where they please. As far as bubble tips vs no bubble tips, I too wish I knew why. Here's mine...

Thanks for all the advice everyone!! I really appreciate it, the anemone was a surprise for the wife and girls, so hope he makes it. I guess time will tell, and he is doing what he needs to. I got the go ahead to buy the orbit pro in a month or so. I took all the crappy fake coral out and last night the wife told me I need more color, so got the go ahead to add corals!!! Going to wait for the nem to adjust and water params to level out. Will update you guys if anything changes.

Slow day at the office, got around to watching the rest of the video. He says something about if they go missing in the rock work, you shouldn't just leave them as they might die in there. If I can't find it tonight should I go looking?
I kinda want to rearrange my rock anyway, now that all the stupid fake coral is out and I have more room just to get a nicer rockscape for future corals.
On a side note: what does everyone do as far as rock scaping? Do you just stack or glue?

Can you post a picture of your tank please?
This is from a few days ago, took the fake coral out, where the yellow one is in the corner I was thinking of having the rock start low and get higher as it goes to the right
