So I bought a rainbow bubble tip anemone yesterday. He's no bigger than a quarter fully opened so he's a small one. But when I got him yesterday he was in a frag tank in a corner in a shaded part kinda. I couldn't tell if the light intensity was a lot when it was on white because they keep the blues on, on the frag tank when I bought him. At my LFS they have a kessil light for their frag tank, on my tank I have a
VIPARSPECTRA
Timer Control 165W LED Aquarium Light Dimmable Full Spectrum from Amazon, currently the intensity of the whites is at 1. The light ranges from 1-100 on whites and blues. So I'm not too sure what 1 is, I wanna say an intensity of about 12. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to read it with a light meter. The reason I have it on one is I'm trying to get the other corals acclimated to the light since it's very bright and gives off a lot of light and I just don't want them to bleach but maybe it's not enough light for the anemone?.. I'm saying that because after it being open and happy looking all day, I came to look at it maybe an hour ago and its mouth was completely out and still is. It keeps opening and closing up every few mins and thats about it. Also maybe he has too much flow or too little? In the frag tank it was in it had very little flow so I'm not too sure.. I've moved the power head some to see if it helped but he's still unhappy.. Also I driped and float acclimated him for about almost an hour it wasn't a full hour though.
This is my first anemone and the tank is 6months old, water parameters are great I tested them this morning and there's no problem with that. Expect my salinity was high this morning like around 1.29-1.30 so I did a small water change and slowly added new water back just so I didn't shock anything. But it's back to normal, it's at about 1.25-1.26. And temp. is at about 78 it varies sometimes from 77-79. Also maybe I should try feeding it? I've read a lot on them and many say to just let them be and get used to the tank? But I'm just concerned about its mouth pushed out.. I tried getting the best pic I could, since blues are on right now and he's so small it's a little difficult but you can still kinda see it. Also it's not excreting anything, it's just his mouth is pushed out.
Thanks for any help and advice! Hope the little guy turns out to be ok..
