Anemone ID please.

I am wanting to identify this anemone species on the left. I tried chatGPT and it said rock flower anemone. I am pretty sure it isn't that. It is a pretty bright florescent green, but not the same as my green BTA's, which are much less vibrant. This thing looks like it could glow in the dark.

I googled a bit and nothing looked enough like it for me to be able to tell. It doesn't ( or hasn't yet) expanded too much, but I am pretty sure it isn't a BTA. It seems to have long straight tentacle, not anything that would balloon out the way BTA's do.

Given that the photo is obscured and blurry, it could be several things. But with the given information, I am leaning towards long tentacle anemone, aka Macrodactyla Doreensis.

The left anemonae could be a few different species, one possibility being a: Giant Green Anemone (Anthopleura xanthogrammica), without a better pictures your going to have a hard time getting a positive ID. Try including the foot in one another with the central disk (mouth) if possible in another. I've got 7 rockflower anenomaes and I really don't think is one.

it is significantly bleached, which intensifies the green color. it could be BTA but the curling tentacles makes me agree it’s an LTA.

if it’s yours, i would move the bta on the right away from it. if it’s a different species they might fight

Here are a couple more pictures. I didn't realize that this appearance is due to bleaching, but it does make sense.

Yea I was a bit worried about them fighting as well, I was hoping one would move itself so I didn't have to try to fight with one to get it to let go. Thanks for the info.

Agreed, it is a bit bleached but everything about it suggests LTA at this point. It should try to dig into the sand and anchor its foot well below the sand line.

Thanks guys. Yeah after moving it from the BTA it has now been in the same place and appears to be digging in. Ill pick up a LTA manual.

The one with bubbles is a regular rainbow bubble tip anemone

And the green one is a long tentacle anemone I had one once they get huge my was 8 inches had to get rid of it I was so nice

Reviving this post because I have another question. So its been a few weeks since I got the anenome and things are not going great with it. It doesn't seem to want to plant itself anywhere. It will stay in one place for a day or so, then move, or even float around the sand I guess looking for another spot.

For the first week or so I didn't think much of it, but as time moved on I am starting to get more concerned about it. It doesn't seem to be dying, and nothing seems to be feeding off it, but it doesn't seem to be growing either. Just sort of ballooning around.

I have LPS's, SPS's, and BTA's that are all growing and looking fine. I am aware that it is reported that these all may not play nice, chemical warfare etc. I am just looking for anecdotal information from those who have kept LTAs.

Mine did that a lot so you're either going to want to put your lights up higher and feed it more right when it gets into a spot feed it every other day. That's what I do with mine. Mine got so healthy. After that it acts weird and then once it finds its spot it stays there for a couple months. Then it eventually moves again because they're very sensitive. But if you feed it turn up the lights a little bit it should be okay. That's what the problem was with mine and it gave me so much stress that I just had to get rid of it cuz my tank is like a 13 gallon. It was so small. Make sure you cover all powerheads with like a mesh bag around it, but do that you should eventually get better. If not, I'm willing to 3D print. You like a little basket for it. I'll send it. Just let me know the size and I'll make it for you. so it could get better and tune up they love light blue and a little white feed it more the basket is just a good thing to have just in case you get corals like mushrooms that needs attached to rubble and you just put it in there. Things that are acting up just put in there. I'm willing to help you out because I had the same problem with mine
