Heteractis magnifica, also known by the common names magnificent sea anemone or Ritteri anemone, is a species of sea anemone that lives in the Indo-Pacific area, and can grow up to 1 metre in diameter in the wild.

They are notorious for being hard to keep being that they don't ship well. If you get a healthy one that will adjust to your aquarium they can be very hardy though. I have had mine for about 2 years now I think. :)

How are they with regard to playing nice with tank mates?

Any experience splitting yours?
They don't play well with others. If they touch it they sting it. Mine expanded wider than normal and got some of my zoa's and they melted quite quickly. Also had a bta wander into it once and the bta lost almost all of the tentacles that got stung and bleached out. It took a long time for it to recover. As for splitting it doesn't happen very often with mags
