Can anyone help me out with what anemones prefer as far as light settings? I’m running a Redsea50 led light on a 13.5 fluval aquarium, and have current settings at 18k 60%blues 20%whites.... just had my water tested all parameters are fine, salinity currently at 1.025... and he is just not happy at all. He is supposed to be a rainbow tip bubble anemone but since getting him about a month ago, and quickly upgrading my stock fluval light to the redsea... he won’t put more than nubs out as far as tentacles and ranges from the size of a half a lemon, down to the size of a mentos and ive almost pulled him out secersl times as I don’t want him to kill everything, but then before I do he puffs up to a half lemon with bubbly nubs and is foot latched on to the rock, and his mouth is puckered shut unless he’s pooping etc... so he’s super unhappy but not dead. What do I do? and before you tell me he’ll outgrow my tank, I have been told multiple times... I have friends with large tanks if I don’t upgrade by then.... but first how can I keep him alive and make him be happy enough to extend etc? I’m at a loss. :(

This is what I am currently running and my watermelon bra seems really happy. Actually grown about a half inch in the month I've had him.

Haha bta not bra. Also it did move around a lot until he got in a mid to high flow area so that's also something to consider.

How long have you had it? Is everything else in the aquarium doing ok? What PAR is it currently under? Did the problem occur after changing the lights?

I’ve had the anemone for about a 4-5 weeks now, and have had the light for about 2-3 weeks .... the anemone already started shrinking with the old light and lost its rainbow color by the end of the second week, then I decided I probably needed to upgrade my light and switched to the Redsea50 attached. He has gotten slightly bigger than when I had the stock fluval and has moved to inside of an arch in my over rock where he’s been attached hanging upside down in various sizes since. Always no more than little nubs out and not the outstretched tentacles he had the first week. This is the anemone currently... he has a good foot hold.... and yes I’m nervous about that shrimp but he’s been there for nearly a week now, and the shrimp has not touched him.

You lighting still feels too weak to me. I'm running a 300W LED over mine @ 12 hours w/ 65% blues and 55% white for 8 hours. How long has your tank been set up?

It’s a 13.5G system so I think the light is plenty, a PAR meter will tell you for sure. @jtf74 your watts don’t tell us your PAR :)

give it some time!

Almost 2 months ago my anenome in 1st pic. 2nd pic I took past few days. I do have a new tank but and you can see my algae bloom in 2nd pic but he did well until past few weeks. I did catch cleaner shrimp on top of him as if he was taking food straight out of his mouth. Had to run him off twice, 3rd time he got on anenome he ran off real quick. The cleaner shrimp has made home not far from anenome. Why he is not extending I can't grasp
