I can confirm a G2+ can fail. Red Sea replaced mine a year ago to seam failure. I got the entire setup for free. I babied this one and it still is now failing. So their answer? Sending me another 425 G2+ tank. To send a G3 would have cost me $1900 more. So while i have time before this one breaks completely I hope to replace it with an equal sized acrylic. Not sure what to do with the new 425 that's coming.

It's time for a class action. These are expensive items and they can cause thousands in damage when they fail.

Maybe the G3 is better. What will happen if the G3 also fail to.

I feel partly to blame. My equipment is red sea. I give them money knowing what I know. I have found their customer service on that end great. In they sort of knew they had a faulty product, sure they didn't own it, but they gave me zero push back on replacing an out of warranty part.

I am going to assume that to change the stylings of the tank is going to cost them millions. I bet they have specialty equipment made just for assembly and to change this assembly line would be very costly. I think they have made some smaller changes, but it seems G2's fail a fair bit too. If we knew how many tanks they sold a year then we could see if this failure rate is within spec given customer error and install issues. I'm guessing they sell 200,000 a year maybe. If they have 500 failures then that's .25%. Not bad for having more than 10% of the market. Just playing devil's advocate.
