Hey everybody,

Just snagged a Tamron 90mm off of eBay for $140! Man o man is it fun! Great sharpness and definitely makes me realize that my APS-C way outshoots my ability as a photographer. No need to update to full frame here.

Here's some shots:

I'm still really working on the balance of ISO with shutter speed and aperature. Also, I really wish there wasn't a smudge in from of the acan shot lol but I think it's damaged glass within my tank. Definitely nothing to do with the lens.

Any feedback/tips are more than welcome!!

Those are fantastic! I recently picked up a Tamron 90mm for a Nikon D3400 as well. Can you post up your settings for those shots?

Thanks for the compliment!

If you click the photo it'll take you to my flickr site where all the meta data is stated. Not trying to be a wise guy but I think I was playing with various different settings lol. For the most part I believe I settled on f10 with around 1/125 shutter and 400ISO. I've noticed that past 800 ISO my D3400 really starts to struggle, it seems to be the biggest make or break factor when it comes to quality of the image due to grain. After that it's all about sharpness so 1/125 seemed to be working out for the most part.

Also a quick note: these are all handheld shots so I think I'll be able to get some better results when I use my tripod.

I have that lens arriving Wednesday. Great pictures Jim! Any gels or thread on filters used? Or manual white balance adjusted? BTW I am in Berwyn.

Not sure how I missed this post lol sorry for such a late response. To answer your question, nope no filters attached. Some tweaking in lightroom but nothing crazy. Hope you're enjoying your new lens!

Since your close, what fish store do you go to? There is one down in Chichester that's close to me and is decent but other than that I haven't found any good ones.

Macro is fun
Play with this a bit http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html
and use a tripod and remote release.

I just picked up one of these as well. I'm still waiting on my backordered waterbox to arrive so I've just been playing with it out in the yard. I've noticed that I don't quite get the sharpness I was expecting, even when using a tripod, but I have to assume it's user error at this point. I swear, it's like I have to relearn how to use a DSLR every time I pick it up.
