Anthias ID?

I purchased an Anthias from my LFS for $15 as the owner wasn’t sure of which species it was. I have spent quite a bit of time attempting to match it up for a positive ID yet I’m hoping that somebody on here would be so kind to help me out? :)

The dorsal fin is a brilliant magenta which transitions to a golden orange shade. It also has a vibrant blue outer ridge. When I had purchased him, he was a very dark unsaturated red. However I’m assuming he is actually a she haha

Ah interesting. He had it alone next to Lyretail Anthias which have a very distinguishable appearance in contrast. Perhaps collected from a different region or do they also change colors when not kept in a school?

It could also be that it’s a juvenile? Additionally would it be considered a female? I’ve always been a Wrasse enthusiast and haven’t really dove into Anthias until just now

If it is lyretail, yes it is female. Dominant females in a group will turn male as they mature, males look quite distinct

That I cannot say, I am by no means an anthias expert, I just recognize the particular type because I’m fond of the orange coloration

Not sure if you’ve gotten an answer but to me it looks like a bimac/pink anthias.

The Bimaculatus Anthias is also known as the Twospot or Twinspot Anthias. The males have one or two spots on their dorsal fin.
