Are they difficult to keep? I would only be able to feed them once per day. Is that enough? Thinking of getting just one.

I have 3 Lyretail Anthias and feed them once per day. All is fine. Started with 3 females and now the largest one is a male. Very cool fish.

It's not recommended to purchase Anthias unless you can feed 2~3x daily. They have very high metabolic systems. I tried some a few months back but couldn't feed 2x day and I had give up:(

Lyretails fed once a day, If my nutrients are low I'll feed more.

I think it all depends on the type of anthias on whether they can live with less than several feedings a day.

If you're doing 2 feedings a day would something like 4pm and 9-10pm work? I'm out of house too early in morning to do a feeding so they'd have to be afternoon/evening.

I have a beautiful male lyretail in display and a female in QT. Shes doing fine just qt'ing for a few weeks before i add her to the display.

I feed all my fish before I leave the house for work in the morning (5:45am), again when I get home from work (4:00pm), and again in the evenings (7:00pm). Other than that I try to keep a healthy population of copepods.

Food I use - Rods Food (once a day), frozen Mysis (every feeding), frozen Brine (every feeding). In addition I dose my tanks with Vitachem once a week the suggested ammount. 1 drop per gallon.

On weekends I try to feed 3-6 times.

Is there a problem having 2 males? Most of the posts I've been reading say to only have 1 male.

I haven't had a problem, they both turned male It was all females when I got them. they are very cool. fill the tank nicely

Good deal. I want to get 3 of them at least. Maybe a few more mix of Anthias that can co-exist.

What other tank mates do you have besides the Anthias @Jdeleon ?

Its suggested no more than 1 male, but you may do many females. The females will put themselves into a hierarchy. If the male dies the top female will assume leadership of the harem.

@stevo01 I take it the 1 male would still apply if you had a mix of Anthias, say Bartletts and Lyretail?

Anthias are an excellent social fish that will help other shy fish to open up :)
