Looking to buy 20 green Chromis with hope of 10 staying alive after quarantine. Any advice on quarantine them, I have 75g quarantine tank. So far I have tried in sets of 8-10 with 0 success rate, about a year ago.
Want to try again.
I have all kinds of medications ready if needed, metroplex kanaplex, copper, prazi....

I recommend a formalin based or ruby Rally Pro bath for 60 minutes and assure the tank is kept clean and free of uneaten food and debris. Uronema affects them the most as is stress from squabbling. Uronema can also be triggered by low salinity levels as well as excess food waste on tank bottom which this protozoan can feed on as often prevention can be more valuable than cure for this.

Batches with a minimum of 7 of them is a good idea, as they are a little too many of them to bully a particular one. I have 7 of them for at least 5 years, but I did not quarantine, so I cannot advise on that. Your 75G tank is also big enough to quarantine/observe them for a few weeks.

Our current quarantine process is here:

The biggest issue with green chromis is the supply chain issues and Uronema (essentially untreatable). If you but small, SE Asian chromis through the long supply chain, you’re going to see high mortality. Perhaps think of another species, or try sourcing short supply chain ones from E Africa or Tahiti?

Trouble is, there is no effective treatment for intercellular Uronema. Chloroquine kills it in the aquarium itself, but doesn’t stop the internal lesions if the fish come in with them. I know some people substitute chloroquine at 15 mg/l over copper (I used to use it a lot back in the 1970s, and then experimented some more with it about a decade ago. Tough to source it now though, after its misuse during Covid.

Isn't CP, also somewhat same as metroplex By seachem. They both treat for uronema

Metronidazole isn't nearly as strong as chloroquine is against protozoans. Because of that, Chloroquine has more potential drawbacks - it also kills algae and most soft bodied invertebrates.

Well, pretty happy to say, now is day 3 since I got batch of 20 of these guys, surprisingly all 20 of them came alive. Visually no signs of uronema. They are in copper treatment stage now. All still alive.

You only had them in quarantine for about ten days? Even with ionic copper, they should be treated for 14 days, but 21 is safer. Did they get treated for flukes?

Yeah I took chances on that! I felt like I will do more harm to them by keeping them in unicycled tank with copper.
Ill post again in couple weeks to see if i did mistake or not on it. But im kind of really surprised to see that all 20 of these little guys known to die in no time survive this long!

Well done, I'm more than impressed with the lack of mortality with them. I had a group of 7 and it was the coolest to see them shoal! Then the '10 little indians' effect kicked in and they slowly died off over a few years. Didnt see uronema @ all, I think they just slowly bullied each other to death.

8 days later in display counted 19 of 20. Maybe still have full 20, it's impossibly to count them they like to hide in birds nest corals.

Congrats! I am also trying to build a herd of chromis. I put 9 into quarantine but only 3 survived copper + Metro. One developed the red banding indicating uronema, a few had physical injuries suggesting bullying and a few dead ones had no damage I could see. I am getting 5 more from Dr. Reef soon since I already had another order in progress.
