I placed an order from Live Aquaria a couple of week ago because they were the only online retailer who had a Ritteri anemone. To meet the free shipping requirements, I also ordered 2 Chromis, a Copperband Butterfly, 2 Tuxedo Urchans, and 5-each Red and Blue leg crabs.

The order was shipped a few days later without the anemone or the Chromis, but they still gave the free shipping so ok. When the order arrived the CB was dead.

I used the live guarantee forms on their site and heard nothing. Today I messaged them only to be told that they would provide store credit.

So in order to get my Copperband Butterfly, I now have to pay $29.00 for shipping, plus about $17 more since the price of the CB has increased.

Does this seem like a good and fair business practice to anyone? After this experience I have no intention of ordering from Live Aquaria again, and it sounds as though they're just going to keep my money after sending me a dead fish.

Live Aquaria filed for bankruptcy back in November and there has since been a lot of controversy over their handling of livestock from what I've read. I personally would avoid buying from them. Sorry to hear about the Copperband though!

Sorry to learn about your experience.

As mentioned above, things are not going well at LA. I would demand a refund to my card. If they refuse to cooperate then I would file a claim with my card and be done with them forever.

Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear about that. I am not completely informed about the live aquaria thing going on right now, but what I do know is that they have been in bad circumstances for a very long time from buyouts, and I would completely stay away from them. You are not alone in this, as many people have been ripped off by live aquaria this last year

I've been doing that, but have a funny feeling that somewhere in the fine print they say store credit only.

You’re probably right but that wouldn’t stop me from filing with my card for the whole amount. Worst that could happen is you find yourself in the same situation you’re in now.

It's not just LA with questionable business practices/shoddy customer service. This has become more common place with multiple vendors (sadly).
