currently sitting in my tree stand waiting on a deer final week of archery up here in Pennsylvania and was wondering how many others in the hobby are bow hunters?
Any luck this season?
Show off them pics and stories!

Some put out smoke signs?

No deer yet this season but it’s early, we can bow hunt till Jan 20th here in the great state of Texas.
I’m heading out again next week for 10 days and we got to shoot a turkey first or we eating bunny nuggets for thanksgiving.

Reminds me of going out with my grandparents camping in Idaho. I mean places so far off the map I was thankful many times of my boy scout sessions. They packed light and only brought in the bare minimum and emergency first aid. That was it. I was the youngest so my brother would go get to fish with our grandpa. Me, I'd go collect berries with my grandma. Both would teach us what we could and couldn't eat. What animals to watch, what we could eat what they etc, etc. They would also show us how to track, what to look for, their poo. This is a heck of a lot for a young kid to take in, right? Then we met back at camp and ate what everyone either caught or collected. This is water, fish, berries, etc.

I grew up then got to go fish. Grandpa taught me how to fish for trout, what to look for, their hunting habits, etc. This time though my brother got to go out with my grandma and, well, they got to go hunting. She was using a .305 savage and he was using my 'pa's .308. She passed that rifle on to me - old but still shoots straight. Anyway back to camp we go. I had fish, they had deer, elk, or whatever time of the year it was back in the late 70's because I don't know the rules. I never got to switch roles because my brother ended up joining the Navy and my grandparents grew older and couldn't go out anymore but I would still visit.

In any case your post about turkey and eating reminded me of this. Their idea of camping was bring enough to be warm and first aid. The rest you gather on your own or starve. That was more or less what they taught us. First time camping with my kids my wife looked at me and said don't even think about it. We are bringing food!!!

I used to take annual trips to Idaho to fish Silver Creek. Boy do I have some stories from that place! The moose would walk so close I could snag them with a fly if I wanted to. Scary as they can charge. Anyway, if I could catch and release a deer, It would be fun to go bow hunting up there. Always lots of animals. I never see much for game critters around here in Dallas.

Not a bow hunter but was pretty into competitive Olympic style recurve archery for a while. Unfortunately to even be remotely competitive you need to train regularly upwards of 4 days a week so had to give it up. :(

Yes sir! I've seen plenty of turkeys, rabbits and squirrels, but no deer except at midnight on the cams. Oh, and on the drive back home next to the road. Oh a nice 8 pt. in my backyard where there's a no hunting rule.

I bow hunted for years. Turkey, pheasant, grouse, deer, rabbit (Lord that was hard!) and boar. Also bow fished with a recurve that had a zebco 808 reel on the stabilizer mount.

I lost the taste for wild game and went to strictly target for team Darton after that. I dropped archery when the arthritis in my shoulders set in at 24.

I miss the challenge for sure.
