So many good books out there....just not too many current ones so you have to know not to look for "new" first.

With all the info online these days it's hard to sell a new book.

Looking for Reef Aquarium vol.3...the only book I'm lacking. I'd pay 30.00 if someone is selling.

https://www.amazon.com/Reef-Aquarium-Vol-Science-Technology/dp/1883693144

New it's pretty expensive but lots of used copies on amazon.
I'm missing vol 2 for some reason...

New copies are absurdly priced. Used is pretty much the same as cover price. Rent for $34??? Rent? Those look like prices intended for speculators and I have no idea who rents $50 books for $34. Find your local used book store and start haunting them/watching for it...or even ask for this book. They may find you a copy. At least if THEY gouge you the money stays local.

Check out Calfo and Fenner's "Reef Invertebrates" as I think it fits your description. Unfortunately I think it is accurate that the web has made books obsolete because of changing information, however I am old and still like to read without a screen. Full disclosure I still listen to broadcast radio too lol

Hey there !
I am looking for a saltwater book that would help me get the maximum info about inverts, fish, and corals. Im really into reading and even though i like how internet is easy to consult , i would like to have a book with easy -to-consult infos about parameters/ habits/ preferances/ compatibility and complex care for corals and anemones. I hate to have to screenshot the info i'll want later . I must have over 1000 screenshot pages about saltwater reef tanks and maintance haha. I prefer writing it down but ...theres so much to write about when it comes to sw stuff that i quit the little journal thing i was doing and am now looking for one or more good books to invest in. :) thanks in advance for any suggestions ! :)
I'm the same. Just give me a book for Pete's sake!

I dunno I'd rather see them worth something then nothing. They are out of print hardcover books. If you want expensive look at a corals of the world set.

The Modern Reef Aquarium (Fossa/Nilsen) series is more reasonable than Vol 3. I thought Vol 3 even had another reprinting? It's unfortunate that Vol 1 and Vol 2 aren't in similar demand.

CotW is kinda different to compare to in the first place....and now it's a free website. I'm afraid to look what the asking price is for the series tho. ;)

Dear Lily,

It’s so amazing that your taking the time to r ad some books on this. My favorite book was lol aka saltwater for dummies. It goes through the process of every step of an aquarium, but then continues after it’s up.

Other really nice books are any really describing fish, and corals and or identifies them. My fish book is a great resource to what for example purple tangs are, animal class, behavior, tank size, lighting, flow etc. I have one for coral from softies to lps, sps which is extremely handy. I bought them at my local book store much cheaper than a lfs.

Still waking up but will send you pics and or attach them for you to see. Also just because a book is older the info may be very valuable, in terms of saltwater they have changed so fast some like myself wonder if all these new ways are actually better. We already invented the wheel, but sometimes newer books may seem we went back to square wheels. Will write you soon about the books and photos on here :).

Sincerely
Sarah
