I recently mounted the canopy that came with my tank, this also entailed pulling my diy screen top off the tank. My wife is a fan of fire fish but, every one we've ever bought has jumped out of the tank. The reason for making a mesh lid.

Now that we have the canopy on its kind of useless. I was thinking of attaching screen to the canopy and then gluing it to the top of the inside of the tank in a few places above where the canopy covers.

This would enclose 3 sides of the tank and mitigate some of the opportunity for carpet surfing.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Firefish will find any hole. I would do something to enclose every inch of it.

Yeah, I don't know that that's possible. The canopy had a piano lid style door on the front that I use for water changes. Unless I could magnet the screen for the front and just have it detach when needed to feed and clean. It's probably hopeless honestly. I don't have much hope of keeping one in.

Where are they escaping from since it has a canopy? Is it open in the back or are they getting out?

I haven't had one in this tank yet. They escaped from previous tanks. Buy l, yes this is an open back canopy and there are small areas to each side and the front they could probably get out through

Maybe enclose the back with netting?

Guessing the tank isn’t eurobraced?

No, it's a rimless tank. 48x24x16, really like the tank, wish it was taller but, it's a good tank. I'm thinking screen in the back and foam shoved in the sides maybe. Not much I can do about the front I suppose.
