Anyone else having trouble with BM mini Q skimmer pump.

Just wondering if anyone else has problems with the mini q skimmer pump? Skimmer is only a few months old and worked fine for a while. Now I'll go in to check on things and the pump is doing nothing. If I turn the air adjustment quickly all the way in both directions it will usually start working but also if I power cycle it the pump will start working. I have some of these cheap usb powered pumps I use when dipping coral and often have to give them a good smack before they'll start running so I'm hoping that isn't going to be the case with this or I'll have to bin it. Wondering if I should have just bit the bullet and bought the tunze. I did clean the skimmer also but it made no difference but I did not soak the pump because it hasn't been running long.

Haven’t had the pump stop working but definitely seen a reduction in bubbles from time to time. I’d soak the entire unit in hot water at that point.

If you wanna try another unit happy to send mine lol. It performed admirably for its size but ultimately lacks a bit of oomph.

Thanks for the offer. I pulled it and cleaned it then decided it looked better on the shelf lol.

Can someone help me with removing the motor section of this skimmer for cleaning. Does you just pry the unit apart?

The black motor housing should just pull off. There's a gasket inside so keep an eye out for that when reassembling.

Mine came off pretty easy just wiggling it side to side while pulling on it.
