I have a dilemma. I have a mixed tank fish, corals etc.… The tank came stock with the two nozzles on the back for water circulation. On one of the two nozzles I put a “spin stream”. I also was running the Gyre and everything looks pretty good. But my question is this… I took the Gyre out to clean it and get some algae off of it. And everything looks just as happy if maybe not a little happier? I’m just not sure I have enough flow for some of the corals.
So... what are you all using and recommend for circulation?

I have that same tank, with the coral selection you have it probably does look better with out the extra flow, but if you want dense or more SPS you will want and need more flow. I could see why the softies in there would like the lighter flow and look better.

I don't have the spinning nozzles, and I just took my gyre out to clean as well and my hammers and frogspawn look a lot happier. Idk if im going to put the gyre back in.

That tank is a 40?
Your Gyre is on the back wall? How is that working for you?
I put mine on the side a while ago, but I am not sure that was making things happy, and I really didn’t like the way it looked..

I struggle mentally with “flow issues”
So much.... I ( big emphasis) like the videos I see when the frog spawn and anemones are wiggling all over the place... like “wave and tidal action” but maybe THEY like just chilling out...

I had this tank a few years ago LPS dominated, now I have the 50 lagoon.

I tried everything for flow, upgrading pumps etc..

What worked for me, and the aquascape, was two smaller pumps, dialed down a bit and anti sync, to create random, smooth flow.
Gyre in that tank maybe to much of the same, unless you only used half of it, plugging off one motor.

I have a icecap 1k in my 25g lagoon. It is in the corner mounted vertically so it sends the water towards the front of the tank. I get a ton of water movement with it and actually had to dial it back from 100% pulse. I will eventually add a second one the other side once some of my colonies fill in more to account for the added coral mass

I would personally go with out the gyre if you feel they look better or run it at its lowest setting with a pulse if you want to use it? but I personally have a 1k gyre and 2 jebao pp4 pumps on my IM 40. its not necessary I know, but I started with the 2 Jebao pumps and then added the gyre a couple months back and now I run them all at lower speeds but I have mainly Acropora.

Here's my 40g Nuvo I've had running since April 17. Took about 6 months for it to finally stabilize for my acro to take off and color up. I've got 2 MP10s and main return is a IM mighty jet medium.
