anyone have any experience with coarse aragonite sand ( ? will this work in sps reef)?

Should work fine as a (natural) substrate. The only potential issue involves the flow in your system or fish that can move stuff around, potentially burying corals on the sand bed. But chemically this is the right thing for a reef.

I agree. I bought sand that is too fine, and light. Now I cant clean up the algae because of it
