I'm thinking about getting a blue ribbon eel but I know they are a picky eater and not easy to keep. I just wanna get the best success rate. Also would they have a problem with my fish in the tank. Would they be a problem with cleaner shrimp.
Currently have a 135 Gallon with a decent amount of rock
1 Rock beauty
1 bi-color
1 sandsifting goby
1 copperband butterfly
1 moorish idol
1 Threadfin Butterfly
2 Mocha storm clowns that are fairly large.
Can I add cleaner shrimp and can I add a blue ribbon eel. Will the fish or eel kill the shrimp and will the eel eat any of my fish

Copperband butterfly, firefish goby, clown tang, scopas tang, solar wrasse, h. Leucoxanthus, h. Chrysus, 2 false percula clown fish who sleep above the ribbon eels den. I tried to add a cleaner shrimp, she ignored it. They will use them for cleaning, but mine sadly died days later from salinity shock. Long story.
My Ribbon eel eats salmon strips, shrimp, pineapple or neon mollies. Does not care for darker colored mollies.

I don't think it matters, but they love to have places to take cover. So, good rock design is important to how they move around and protect themselves. Her and the other ribbons I have had, enjoyed coiling around rocks, explore under ledges and what not.

But, to start things off. I really prefer to isolate them with pvc and live rock to get them comfortable and start working on what may interest them into eating. Once they are established and they have eaten enough to get some weight on, I move them into the display tank.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
