I am reinstalling an older single drain glassholes overflow and its leaking from the outside. From what I could gather one gasket goes between the overflow box and the aquarium and one goes on the outside. Thats how I have it right now but I've also seen people having two gaskets on top of each other between the box and glass. I see that they used to sell silicone lube with the kits so I think Im going to grab some of that in the morning and try it out.

Any other suggestions?

Just looked at my nano with teeth on my old 20 in the garage

Its set up like yours, gasket between box and tank and one on the outside. A little silicone lube or pre-wetting the gaskets does help them seat sometimes.

Is there any vinyl or paint on the back of the tank that could prevent it from seating.

There’s no paint and I cleaned up he hole with alcohol before putting it together. I will grab some silicone lube tomorrow morning and report back. Thanks for chiming in guys. Any other ideas welcomed.
