Found this in my tank I have no idea what it is! Been slowing moving about going into the holes in my live rock, no the best photo but hopefully someone knows

Looks like a Asterina and they can become problematic if that’s what it is, I’m no starfish expert but with 7 arms it may be a Luida Cilliars.. maybe someone else will have a idea

So best to try get rid of it if I can? Maybe explains why my zoas haven’t been opening recently

You will get mixed messages but the ones I had absolutely did eat my zoanthids and are hard to get rid of.. originally thought I had just a few but I have removed 30 or more and still seeing them, they mostly come out at night so you may have more than you think.

Agreed on varying opinions, but I too have always removed them when I find them. They tend to upset the zoa garden so they are escorted from the building. :)

When I finally got serious about removing astarina starfish from the tank, we ended up pulling out over 300, over 3 monhs, from a 75 gallon tank.

I still get 1 or 2 a week, 4 years later.
I definitely vote removal.

Some are good some are bad, I can't tell which is which and neither can my harlequin shrimp, she eats them all equally. Seriously though, since you keep zoas it may be good to take precautionary measures and remove it
