I love the helio heater but it's probe and core take up quite a bit of space. So does my ato

Just ordered one.

I run Apex on my DT, and have been looking for something less $$$ for my QT

I run my QT full time and this would be fine for general monitoring.

And if it doesn’t work, definitely won’t be the first, or last time, I spend $$ on stuff that I don’t really need, nor care if it doesn’t work.

It was not obvious what the "6" parameters are until I read the user manual

4 of them are Salinity, TDS, Conductivity, and Specific Gravity--pretty much counting the same parameter shown 4 different ways.

pH probes don't last forever; you have to replace them or chuck the unit. How long does the probe last? Warranty is for a year if--if you can actually exercise it. There's nothing in the manual about how to replace the pH probe.

Oh, and it's got a thermometer in it, too.

But it's only a hundred bucks.

pass.

So its a Hanna Marine Monitor for a third of the price.

I've reached out to them re: replacement probes. I'll let you know what they say.
Great, when you talk to them, ask how they count 6 parameters, too ;).
I will be interested to hear their reply.

2 of the params don't really matter with saltwater and it has salinity and specific gravity, so the same thing. So really is more like a 3 in 1

Watching the video I did have a similar thought - 6-in-1 sensor but three of the 6 are all basically different ways to measure and display salinity?
I'm a long way from being a saltwater tech nerd or chemistry genius but is there any genuine value in having separate measurements for salinity, siginifcant gravity, EC? I mean it can't hurt but it does bump this from 6 to 4 measurements.
And then the TDS measurement is great to have on your incoming water for Top Off or Water Change but I don't know why it would matter to measure it within the tank itself?
It looks like the sensor is built into the one unit so there's no way to pull lit out and seperately measure TDS on your source water.

So it ends up really just being a measure of PH, salinity and temp.
Having said that, it's an always-on instant-read without having to use separate sensors or units.
At least here in Australia, I'll pay $70 for a Hanna PH meter and $150 for a salinity meter, plus a digital thermometer. This all-in-one is about $150 so economically it's cheaper than the individual units.

I'm interested, tentatively

Mine too!

They are either…
A. Incredibly fast at shipping
Or
B. Even faster at taking my $ and sending nothing.

It’s worth the gamble.
