Just wondering if any of you are using AV's Vibrance for your Iodide supplementation. I am using it quite sparingly but regularly....(it brought back a Wellsophyllia that was going south quickly). Most SPS keepers I know dose some form of Iodine or Iodide and feel it's of benefit.
I have a Salifert Iodine test kit that reads the iodide levels fine (I keep mine on the very low end of recommended levels) but on the iodate portion of the test, I think I'm getting faulty results. Salifert's test kit says that false readings can be given if dosing potassium iodide (Vibrance) or if you're using Ozone (which I am).
AV's Vibrance has a recommended dosing schedule of 1ml per 25 gallons daily with adjusments to keep iodide levels in the 0.03 - 0.06 range. I'm dosing at about 1/3 of this rate (3ml every other day for 140 gallons total volume).
I have seen no ill effects thus far, and I think I'm well within safe levels. But at the same time, I obviously don't like getting results on tests that are faulty or misrepresentative.
Thoughts?
