Is there a way to log/graph the roller mat usage of a RedSea ReefMat filter using a Neptune Apex ?
Example: alerts for mat issues like rip/tare or end of roll flow issues. Red Sea has their "ReefBeat app" but can the same be collected/alerted to Apex?

Only if the ReefMat supports connectivity through IOTA. I suspect you're just controlling it through an outlet on the Apex, so no. How do you like your ReefMat btw?

RE: IoT, thats what Im wondering. Also why I posted/reminded about ReefdBeat. I dont currently have either product but am investigating several pieces of hardware.

Interoperability beats out proprietary because it promotes flexibility.

I sent an inquiry to RedSea..... lets SEA what they say.
Im going to go on a limb and say they only connect to ReefBeat.

The answer was "Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the ReefMat will not communicate with the Apex controller."

Only way would be to break one apart, reverse engineer the circuitry, recreate the control scheme with the apex and then set up alerts.

You could maybe set up some sort of linked automation with IFTTT and alexa voice integration if you need some corrective action to be taken with other equipment when the roll tears etc if your rollermat has wifi capability.

No mat yet. I was in planning mode trying to see if there were options to alert for stuck roll, end of roll, usage patterns, etc via Apex.
me too but really not needed with the Reefbeat app, I use 3 apps to manage my tank Fusion, Mobius, and now Reefbeat. But really only use the Fusion app and react to the notifications from Reefbeat

Poking this thread... Has anyone hacked a solution for this? I'm stuck with my reefmat in a spot that when it jams or runs out of filter, the overflow causes water to drip over the sump. I'd love a way to have pumps shut off immedietly when that happens and alert me better/louder than reefbeat does.

How about an optical sensor? Turn off what ever you like when it closes (water in your sump reaches a certain level).

I have a ReefMat on my RS 650P. It’s been running for a couple of months and has been a very worthwhile addition—much better than changing out socks. Socks were dependent upon my consistency which at times was pretty variable. The ReefBeat app is fine. My AI lights are on a separate app also. The Apex does the other jobs. I was looking to add the mat to Apex and couldn’t find away but I don’t think it’ll be any issue.

All you can really do is plug the Reefmat into your eb8 and have it always on. Then you can turn it of and on. Thats how I have it and only because I have an outlet im not using. If I ever need it, I will plug the Reefmat into the wall. I never turn the Reefmat off. If I do its always thru the Reefbeat app.

That’s a good idea as my ReefBeat can have connections issues—which is likely due to our service rather than the ReefBeat. The Apex does better in that respect. Thanks!
