I'm looking to buy a apex dos second hand. What are some things i should look at when getting it. What are some clue to not buy it.

Get manufacturer’s date that’s printed on the unit! The newer the better. Also find out how long the owner dosed with that doser. The longer used, the sooner the heads have to be replaced.

He says. "Used for only 10 mil a day for 8 months" and was manufactured 2020

  1. As with any used Apex gear, check for any corrosion on the AquaBus ports.
  2. Verify both manual priming buttons function.
  3. Verify the status LEDs function.
  4. Ask if it comes with an AquaBus cable plus power adapter, or a 1Link cable.

The only expensive component in DOS is the stepper motor (2x). Replacing both motors is equivalent to buying a new unit.
I would avoid buying a used unit if it has been used for water changes.

Everything else is fairly minor, I repaired dozens of them by now. If it has not been water damaged, does not have corrosion on any ports and can connect to the head unit, the worst you may be looking at is replacing pump heads.

He said he replaced heads 1 time
