Thought I'd just comment . I don't know how other people feel but I hate all the updates!

I don't have a hard wired line so for me this means unplugging everything. Taking out all the screws , dragging all the hardware to my router and updating and then reverse order again. If it was easy for me to hardwire this connection I would have already done it. What a pain in the butt! Other than that, I love it !! Lol!

Cat5 cable is cheap. I ordered a long one off of monoprice.com so then I just run from router to apex when o need the update and move it back to wireless after.

Why not just use a Ethernet over Powerline adapter instead of the wifi adapter. Basically you plug the adapter into a wall outlet and run a short length of cat5 from it to your apex. It comes with a 2nd adapter that you plug to your router and a outlet near it.

Then when you need to update. Just connect your laptop to the router via cat 5. And you are all set to update.

1. CAT5 cable over 200 feet
2. Laptop
3. No need to update unless you have new devices that require that
4. If it is working, leave it alone!

Agreed, you don't need to update every time a new firmware release comes out. Only update to fix an issue you may be having that's fixed in the new release or you get a new module you add to the system.

Really? I've never heard of anyone having issues with them if plugged directly into a wall outlet. It's pretty much plug and play.

If you plug it into a ups or some power strips they may not work.

If you know any it guy they probably have a crimp tool and bulk cable is like 10 cents a foot typically. Then you could just run a permanent cable and start using apex fusion too
