So I bought this unit used, and the owner before decided to put water in the cap at the end of the probe. When I look at the body of the probe, I see dark water inside.. Is it supposed to be water proof? Could this be why my readings are incorrect? I did attempt a calibration with 7 and 10 solution, but it never did hit 10 and sat around 8.6. Kinda sounds like I may need a new probe unless someone else can chime in.

The water in tip is fine it's so the electrode does not dry out.

how did u calibrate it?

Is water in the whole body of the probe normal? I used calibration 7 and 10 solution. I do see a bubble in the tip of the probe, but in the whole body, is a super dark liquid (water).

I used the apex controller display to calibrate. The numbers kept moving, and when they stopped is when I moved on to the next calibration test.

Did your calibration come out good? Did you test it with another monitor like a Hanna ph monitor?
The reason why? I have not in a half and a half been able to calibrate mine even close to it should be so I double check it with a Hanna ph monitor it makes me feel better

Ok
And then after u did that u put it in the ten and it did not go over 8.5 or whatever? If that's the case I would say to either try calibrating it one more time making sure u are calibrating it in the right solutions. And waiting till it completely stops. And if it still doesn't register it at higher then 8.5 u will need a new probe

Alright, i'll try calibrating one more time. My biggest concern is that there is water within the blue part of the probe that surrounds the electrode, not within the electrode area itself.

I recall seeing somewhere that you are supposed to try and shake any bubbles out of the tip because it can impact readings. Mine didn't have a bubble so I didn't dig into it much further.

That's fine if u look up how it is made of there wasn't water inside it would dry out. It goes under over and under again.
And if my memory serves me right there was water in mine and it was brand new
