Hey all,

To help prevent catastrophe in my reef tank, I had a whole home generator installed today. That's the good news!

I made sure that the generator folks supplied me with a small gas powered generator for the day to run my tank, despite the rest of the house being without power the majority of the day. That went smoothly. Kept the heater running, return pumps, and the gyre running to keep everything happy and healthy, so far as I can tell.

Here is my issue - now that the power is back on, my apex has restarted. But it seems to have lost all of my installed modules? And I can't even control anything via apex fusion. Can't turn on lights, can't adjust heaters/chiller, can't edit anything at all really. It is spitting out *some* good data - the GPH of my return pumps, the temp, the pH. But my tridents, radions/blade lighting, and even the leak detectors are all "missing" and then there are bunch of new tiles to add, which I presume are all of the old modules that it thinks are now - new?

Has anyone encountered this issue before, and is there a quick fix to restore the old system? Or do I need to treat this like a brand new installation for every single piece of equipment?

Thanks!

Have never lost them but I had them all change address once. Do you periodically back up your system. That would be the only way to recover. If the address changed and you didn’t delete them apparently you can call support and they can switch them back. But when it happen to me I just recoded the outlets.

Silly question but have you tried restarting the apex again? Also does it show you signed in the app?

I had this happen. Super frustrating. I ended up having to reinstall all modules and reprogram. And delete the old missing modules. Has it already reinstalled your modules as new ones?

Can try restarting your main unit via the app but if that does not work most likely. Been told once that the support can remote in and repoint the address but your have to wait till there hours are open. Do you have a backup file saved that you can recover from.

feel like this is the exact issue Reef Beef discussed in their Jan 4 episode which also came about during a power interruption. Sounds like he’s up and running, and think his hypothesis is it was a bad cable that prevented everything from coming up during a reboot

Sorry to hear about your Apex. If it doesn't end up working and you want to look for something open-sourced, check out my AquaPi project:

Blah, I found my skimmer outlet on the front end and brought a extension cord near it to get it on

So pumps are on and skimmer is on so I think I bought myself some time

The one time this happened to me it was a bad Aquabus cable, worked fine until a power outage and then I had to go through the headache of testing each cable until I found the bad one.

So the entire thing went down due to a cable? That's horrible! There should be checks in the software for this!

Yup and agree. However, I did have them all daisy chained together so it could have been the first in the series I don't remember. At the time since I was testing, I removed all the wires and reconnected / cleaned up the wires so they were in a pile.

Ah that would make sense! I daisy chain a few sensors, but if those go down, only the sensors go down. Not everything, including the controls.

I found it. What an odyssey.

I have to share

I literally just finished. Had to reroute an entire eb832.

But New eb832 also started ******* up.

Took out all the cables, figured out it was from one of the aquabus.

Figured out when it was working that the only 2 not connected were my cor and Dos. So I tried the cor first. Plugged it in and it was fine

Then plugged the dos and it all shut down again.

Then I removed my apex display which I had coming off the dos and tried to put that on without going through the dos and my whole **** died again.

So I took it out and put in the dos and it worked

So…the apex display cable shut down my entire apex.

Fun day

My temp dropped to 72.5 (its single digits here and my basement is 65) and my pH dropped to 7.7 cuz my skimmer shut lff

Yeah I think Neptune is in a bind because their interconnects are not resilient to the environment, but they can’t update them without years of pain with their existing customers
