I currently have an Apex Classic and am seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on the 2016 Apex this black friday. Any chance there will be a new model in the next 6 months to a year?

My current Apex can suffice, I just want all the added bells and whistles of the new one. I also can wait a little bit to upgrade.

Seriously doubt it. All major changes (ie wifi) have been done.
The new fancy modules like Trident were meant to be used with the 2016 and do not work with Classic

It took them about 5 years to come out with this new model. The only real difference is wireless, salinity probe on base unit, and reset button from what I can tell. I think this model will be relevant for atleast the next 5 years.

The reset button is great because it allows you to recover the apex from a corrupt firmware or system failure. They won't have any major hardware upgrades like this anytime soon. They could add small improvements but it's hard to see any changes to the base operating functionality. The new controller was a re-release to fix that original design flaw IMO.

I suppose its possible a new model could be announced within the next 12 months, but I agree its highly unlikely that a 2016 replacement is hitting the market in that time frame. I'd imagine processing power will ultimately be exceeded, necessitating a replacement. Even if something new were to appear next year, the 2016 version doesn't magically stop working (though I appreciate the emotional element of not having the most current model LOL) - and Neptune have been good about supproting legacy mdeals.
