Ok so i have gotten the apex and figured out how to program and stuff. Havent gotten into the advanced control of lighting yet but basic. Can find the apex at home, but i am having trouble port forwarding through router so i can connect via android app. Would i be better off just getting a gaming switch?

The gaming adapter just replaces the Ethernet cable, it won't help in port forwarding.

I've setup a few for some club members and standardized the layout. Makes it easier on me when they call for help ;-).

You'll need to make sure the Apex has a static IP address outside the scope your firewall/router is handing out. Once that is done. On your port forward you can open the port and point it to the Apex static IP.

Note: if you're on Comcast they block a lot of ports to their residential nodes. You can't use port 80 on the Apex if you're on Comcast. I'd suggest setting the port on the Apex to something random like 3391. That 3391 port is what you would forward on your router.

The next step would be to find your public IP address. http://www.icanhazip.com will show you this.

Inside your house you would go to http://apex_ip:3391

Outside your house
http://your_public_ip:3391

I've setup 2 remotely. I don't have Internet yet at home but I should have it tomorrow. Just shoot me a PM with when you might be free this week.
