I have an apex jr. and the temp probe is in the sump. The temp on the display constantly fluctuates rapidly all within the same degree range. Example: it will say 77.6 then 77.8 then 77.5 all within a few seconds. My program is set to turn heater on at 77 and off at 78. My heater turns on and off a lot throughout the day as you can imagine but i feel that is due to so many temp fluctuations. I bought the unit used and this has been the case since i got it. Anyone have any ideas? Is the probe bad you think? Any help would be great

Is the probe next to the heater? I have my heaters in the last chamber where the return pumps are. The apex probes are located in the chamber before with the skimmer.

They are but i have had them in different areas before. Im going to move probe to overflow or other side of sump to see if any better. Temp fluctuates even when heater is not on and has done so for quite awhile. I also have another probe im going to try.

I have had 2 temp probe failures in about 12 years. the first was thanks to a cat. the second just went nuts and was reading big temp swings, much larger than yours. I would try the other probe or order a replacement.

I'd turn in a ticket to Neptune and let them get a deeper look at it.

Check the temp port and clips for any corrosion/trash too.
