Apex vs reefkeeper

I am trying to figure out. Which would best serve my needs.
I have a 55 gallon tank. Drilled with a 36x15x15 refugium.
I have 2 hydor 850, a protein skimmer( not sure of the name but more then likely it's old but kicking )
200 watt heater , eheim return pump.
I am adding a jbj auto top off next week with a fresh water container for ro/di water. And last a t5 coralife lunar high output light.

I eventually want to move to mp10's and a led lighting system.

I travel quite a bit in the summer so I want it as automated as much as possible for my wife. It's mostly going to be a coral tank with about 6-8 fish total.

And I want to be connected with the internet.

I cannot speak on the reefkeeper but i do have the apex. I have two tanks hooked to one sump system. Total i have 21 things that I control. 5 led lights, 4 wavemakers, protein skimmer, 2 heaters, calc reactor, 2 return pumps, also 4 probes. all of this is controlled by my Apex. There are no limits as to what you can do. I can also say that Netune Systems customer service is second to none.

I truly am leaning towards the apex. Just because of future purchases. But I am still not sure. I plan in a year or two to move to a 125 gallon tank. Or maybe bigger. Not sure yet. So the apex would be perfect.

I will have to say Apex, I own two of them, one for my reef and one for FOWLR. They are awesome when it comes to controlling your aquarium, also the upgrade possibilities are endless and the new Apex Fusion is great. I've never own a reef keeper so I can't speak for that controller, but in the past two years Apex has pull away with all the new things they are coming with, specially controlling different big names of LED's and Powerheads and their customer support is second to none. Not sure but I think I remember watching a YouTube video review on Reef Keeper done by BRS, I'm sure if you do a search on you tube you will be able to find reviews on both. Good luck!

I believe I am going to be going with the apex. The expand ability of it is a great option. And the display is very informative.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe reefkeepers can control vortechs. However, Apex can and does extremely well.

How can you control the vortech with the apex? I was seeing something about that not too long ago on apex website but didn't see a breakout box or anything for it.

From what I have seen it's a wireless I/O box I think

It's called the WXM module, module connects to Apex via USB, Vortechs connect to module wireless, it takes about 30 seconds to set it up.

Ok well I have had both and the only difference is the fact that you can control apex from your phone that's it to me

I see a lot of pictures of the apex software. And some have pics or video of a tank is that standard or can you also hook a camera up to it?

I've got a pretty big Reefkeeper system including the Internet module. When I bought it the accessories I was interested in priced out better with the Reefkeeper than the Apex. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
