I've wanted a Apex for quite some time, but the cost is prohibiting me from buying one.
I found a ad for used Tunze 7000 that was used once then she had to sell all of the aquarium. $200

How does it compare to an equal to one of the Apex's ?
It has a 5 year warranty. Don't about Apex ?

Ad-

Tunze Smart controller 7000.

I used for a brief time to measure temperature in my tank. Probe was not exposed to any medications. Only reef crystals saltwater.

Looks like new.

Condition is Used.

Includes controller, temperature probe, 4 cables and power supply.

bump.

Not user of any, but Apex is very popular and battle tested, while tunze as a brand is very reputed, but i doubt the controller is very popular. I vaguely recall it using raspberry pi internally. Lets see if anyone else can chime in, Im curious

I had it one time for a while and it’s not near as user friendly as the Apex is. No other pumps work with it other than Tunze. In order to get it to control a heater you have to buy a separate module, and a pH probe does not come with it. The temp probe is hard wired to it so if it’s damaged I don’t know that it can be replace by the end user. They may have updated things since I owned one two years ago but bottom line I was not impressed by it. If you had all Tunze equipment it might be a different story.

I won't be buying one anytime soon then. I hate to buy anything used with electronics, but if I can find used pieces here, I'll be safer.
I really just want safeguards like temps, skimmer overflow, etc. Even a Apex classic is around $500. That's a lot of money for us.

For temp only you can get inkbird or ranco like controller. They are relatively cheap and effective
