API nitrate reagent in Hanna nitrate HR

So on one of my Facebook groups a guy mentioned he uses the API reagent in his Hanna nitrate HR checker. He was very vague and not helpful when I asked him follow up questions. Has anyone else done this with success? Getting 125 tests out of API for cheaper then 25 Hanna reagents seems like a good idea if it’s factual. If anyone has done this successfully please let me know the protocol u use.

I’ve dabbled;

Do Hanna Checkers have different colour LEDs?

Agreed. I said the same to red2143 in a message. "Here's the best solution I didn't think about in the thread. Once you add reagent 1, cap and invert 10 to mix.... use THAT yellow as the c1 blank. If the meter stays on for 10 minutes you have plenty of time to add reagent 2, shake 60 seconds...

thanks so it looks like the phosphate is a win to save some money but the rest are iffy at best?

API phosphate works great. I’ve not spent enough time on the API nitrate but I can’t see why it should not work just as well once a decent method is nailed down.
