First. we found a year old RS tank with equipment from a LFS. I had waited several years to get back into this hobby. We had the RS for 9 months before we had to put clamps on it. Noticed bubbles earlier on and they continued. The tank had no apitasia at all. During this time we did get some tangs and a copperband fish. He came from Dr. Reef. I did not want to get one that had problems. This guy took a couple of days to get comfortable and now eats from my hand. The CBB was added to prevent apitasia problems. We were very unsure what tank we would replace the RS with. We added two 40 gallons and one 20 gallon to keep the fish and corals in while we decided on the aquarium.
Decided to go to a 180 gallon rimmed tank from Planet Aquarium. We put up a Alufab stand. This took us a couple of months. Meanwhile, frags and fish were purchased to go into the new home. Possibley some of these frags had apitasia cells attached because the tanks that did not have the CBB fish showed signs. The large tank was supplied with the CBB, peppermint shrimp, a filefish. No apitasia survived.
One of the 40 gallon was planned to try macro algae growth in. Unfortunately, they were infected with apitasia and that stuff will triple and cover everything. Then it was a few apitasia was also discovered in the other 40 gallon. Now I have an apitasia problem. Berghia Nudibranchs' were purchased to start in the infested tank. I wanted to share my story with you because they are working. First, we did not see them and I almost gave up. Suddenly they are all over the infested tank. It seems they just need time to multiply. The 2nd 40 gallon tank has a x-mas tree rock and I decided to try to keep the apitasia in check. The fish called a Molly Miller blenny seems to be doing the job of keeping the apitasia from spreading. She has not taken out the bigger apitasia but no more little ones have shown up. The large 180 sump did get infected (only the sump) and I placed peppermint shrimp in the sump area, they also seemed to have stopped the spread of the infesting creatures. For anyone that wants to know in my case my CBB, peppermint shrimp and the filefish keep the display free of apitasia. As far as the filefish goes I cannot say how much help he is as I put the filefish in the infested tank but never saw him eat. The filefish is now with the Molly Miller as I was hoping he would eat the large apitasia in that tank. The'' Berghia Nudibrachs are worth the money if you don't want the fish or shrimp. I am just going to move them to where they are needed so that the apitasia will stay unseen.

Some photos below. I put the apitasia in the tank to test my CBB click the 3rd insert.

I am glad this worked for you. I treat the large Aiptasia with F-Aiptasia I have had good luck with Berghia as long as there are no predators.

I guess the secret is to have a large amount of the Berghia N to attack a large Apitasia all at once.

That is definitely one approach. I try to give them a helping hand!
