I have bought an Aqua One reefsys 326 tank after my previous DIY style tank not looking or operating how I wanted to, coupled with a brooklynella outbreak I figured it was time for a fresh start and to get a proper set up this time.
I went for the reef sys tank as it was on sale for £950 and I prefer the proportions to the D&D 1200 which is the other tank i was considering. Red sea is a no go after all of the reports of seam failure.
I Intend to run the triton method in the tank, so I have bought an aqua medic EVO 5 5 head dosing pump.
I have also purchased two of the maxspect MJ L290 lights as they were the lights I figured to have the best coverage and par for the price. (Hopefully I am correct!)
The other light I have purchased is the tunze Refugium light, to provide the refugium for the triton Method.
For pumps I have gone with the D&D Funktion 3500 as a return pump and then for flow I have a maxspect Gyre rated to 15000 LPH as well as a jebao powerhead from a previous build.
For a skimmer I'm using my existing reef octo 110s
I have lots of Live rock from my previous build which I will use, however the old tank has been left fallow for a while now and I will leave the new tank fallow for a while to let it settle in and just to ensure there is no more brook.
I plan to make it a mixed reef, and id like to make my first big foray into SPS. I have kept some before successfully but I want to focus more on the growth of these.
Stocking Ideas -
Chromis group
Mandarin Dragonet (I had one that ate frozen but the brook got it)
A tang of some kind. I especially like regals.(happy to buy small and grow out and then return to store or inevitably upgrade tank!)
Longnose hawkfish
Pipefish (if possible)
Foxface (vulpinus)
Longnose butterfly (if it doesn't eat my coral)
Not planning to add all of the larger fish, just would like opinions on them. And id also love some suggestions for what else to stock with.
