I want to change the speed of my Aquaclear 70 by putting a different impeller in the motor. all the motors from 20-70 should be the same and only the impeller and housing is different.
I'm trying to target 50 GPH to use seachem denitrate media effectively. The first video is of aquaclear 20 impeller which is rated at 100 GPH, and the second video is of aquaclear 30 impeller rated at 150 GPH. both are installed on the aquaclear 70.
is there a way to measure GPH ? it just seems a lot less than what its rated for. ( like its hard to imagine aquaclear 70 with 70 impeller rated at 300 GPH filling up an empty 300 gallon tank in an hour) . maybe I'm not accouting for head pressure and elbows in the intake tubing etc... but what is the effective GPH then? ( with 50 as my effective target )
which do you think I should choose? the 20 impeller, or the 30 impeller, [both speeds can be reduced by approx half, by changing intake tube position]
