Hi, so I have a 72x24x20h eurobraced (no trim) reef tank that sits on a custom made 38" tall stand. Looks like the top frame is made of 2 2x4 that are put on top of each other (so 8" height) and standing on a few 2x4 on each corner all glued and screwed together. Also there is no center brace front or back. Appartenly made by a carpenter according to the last guy who owned the tank and it was built to withstand alot of weight. I haven't had any issues the 2 years I've owned this tank but I take everything with a grain of salt.

My question is, I'd like to upgrade to a bigger tank 72x24x29 (so 9" taller) but should I be worried about the extra weight on the stand?

It does feel extremely solid but can I really tell for sure if it will hold up the extra weight?

Thanks!

You should be just fine. Most stands, and sounds like yours is, are way over built.
