Hey there, just getting my equipment shipping in over the next 2 weeks for my Reefer build. I’m a noob but looking to become well researched.

Any thoughts on my prospective Aquascape?

Cool looking scape IMO, are you going to have sand or no? Also welcome to R2R!

Yeah, I’m looking at about a 1 inch sand bed. A guy at a fish store told me to run it bare bottom for a couple of weeks to let the rock flake out, what do you think of that?

Hoping to do mixed corals and a small group of animals with good variety.

No rush on the sand. The aquascape came out nice.

My next steps are that I ordered some Schedule 60 PVC to change a couple of things in the sump. I’m going to do a gate valve and a union on the line from my return pump for easy replacement if it fails.
I also ordered a gate valve for the line down from the tank as I’m thinking of replacing the diaphragm valve from Red Sea. I would like the accuracy of a ball valve as the diaphragm valve takes about half an hour to change levels in the sump, but I’m concerned that the gate valve will increase the noise which is not going to be good as this is in my kitchen. Thoughts are welcome.

I’m also waiting on a larger ATO, a Neptune ATO kit, and some sweet string lights for the sump. Still a ways from water but I do plan to get my quarantine tank setup this week.
