Hi everybody,
I share my experience: I have some automation for my 75 reef tank, although not a major one, just:
- KH keeper and Smart Tester by Reef Factory
- Seneye controller

After some days of running this equipment, I started to keep on checking on my mobile the apps to see the levels. It’s kind of habit when you are playing with your mobile.

There are no parameters that are so vital to be checked so frequently in a reef tank, but when you have it on the mobile simply you do it regularly…. I know my Smart tester is gonna test PO4 every day at 7pm and I regularly wait for alert on the mobile to be posted…LoL

Anybody same experience?

Yeah! I got my Hydros controller. Currently it's only monitoring temperature and pH and watching for leaks. I was checking it almost hourly looking at the temp and pH even though for the first year I was only checking them every week or so.

I did the same for awhile with my Hydros when I first got it. I keep it up in the background just because I can while I'm working (and because it makes it easy to click over into feedmode for feeding my fishos), but I don't monitor it like I used to. In fact, I don't think I even look at most of the stuff more than when I get up and before I go to bed to see what my levels are.

Yup. The easier it is to do maintenance, the more it’ll get done. A controller helps alot in many cases. With my sps tanks, alk is tested twice a day. They consume a lot of it because there are so many coral. I cannot be home all day to test and dose, so my Apex does it.

I can't agree with this enough. Being able to touch a button and throw my tank in maintenance mode while I do all of my weekly maintenance is invaluable. Then all I have to do is hit a button when I'm done and not worry that something got missed.
