Are center tank overflows still a thing?

So in my long thought out custom build thought process, I’m thinking I’m wanting it viewable from all four sides. For overflow purposes, that leaves the center overflow.
So I ask are center overflows still a thing or are they a design of the past due to leaking/cracking? I honestly can’t find much good or bad on center overflows

I've seen some planet aquarium tanks with center overflows at one of the local lfs. There were more offset overflows. But they did still have some centers.

Beyond that I have no idea.

I see them in cylinder tanks, like the ones in rainforest Cafe and such...
For a 4 sided viewable, I think it would be the best option. No negatives I can think of if done correctly.

Thanks for the quick replies. So from the sounds of it, as long as it’s a reputable manufacturer, it should be able to be done with no issue. Awesome!

Would go with a ghost style overflow if you can. Takes up much less tank real estate
