I would surmise that it is a motion to let the other starfish know that they are ready to spawn. Starfish group together when ready to spawn, and believe that is what is happening here.

Man, woman, girl or boy, my recommendation is that if you're posting a question, include the #reefsquad so that you get eyes looking at your question. Otherwise, dependent on the time of day, that question could be buried very quickly with posts coming too fast. :cool:
