Are Powder Blues worth it?

I have a powder blue that will complete medicated quarantine this Saturday. That includes 30 days of copper, 4 rounds of Prazi and 14 days of Metro plus Metro in food. Also one fresh water bath up front when he had flukes. All tangs are ich/disease magnets. But he is an incredible and beautiful fish. If your willing to put in the quarantine work or by pre-quarantined then they are absolutely worth it.

Would you say that PBs are more prone to ich as compared to other tangs? I've heard that they're quite aggressive, any problems with it picking on smaller fishes in your tank?

I don’t know if they are more prone than other tangs.
He is still in QT so he hasn’t had exposure to other fish and won’t for another month or so when the other fish are done with quarantine. He is on the smaller size (2-3 inches) and going into a 180 gallon tank so I don’t think it will be a problem. I think tangs in general are territorial but I’ve had tangs in the past co-exist.
PBT are such lovely fish that I personally would not take a chance of having a sick one and losing it. They are truly an artistic masterpiece of nature. And please remember that there are other things others than ich that can crash your tank.
IME yes. I've never been able to keep one long term so I stopped trying. I have 10 tangs, most have been with me for years (was 11 but lost my hippo unexpectedly after 5+ years) and PB is the only one I've had problems with ich even after medicating with copper before adding to the DT.
i don't know that they are any more prone than any other tang, tangs are kinda high strung and they get stressed easy compared to other fish, when the get stressed they can be very prone to diseases like ick. my powder blue has only ever paid attention to other tangs in my tank and it sometimes fights with my purple tang, but as far as i can tell its just normal skirmishes over territory. it is not constant or to the point i think one will seriously hurt the other. the difficult part is introducing it to the tank if you have other tangs or introducing new tangs to the tank after the powder blue has established its self. that can be tricky. i had to turn the lights off for periods of time to prevent them from killing each other un till they settled down after a few days.

If you ask me, it is totally worth it under 2 conditions. First, you have to run the full course of medicated quarantine (40 days of Copper Power, then 20 days of Metro) and with some good luck. Second, you need to have a big tank so that there are lots of room for the fish to swim. All tangs love swimming in strong current and they are fast swimmers. The color of the fish are amazing if they are happy.

mine wasnt a ich magnet had it once then never again wasnt aggressive like every 1 says they are aswell did swim ALL DAY laps round the tank which was kinda annoying when u just wanna watch the fish chill out i much preferred my purple tang it just cruised about

Ich needs to be brought in for a fish to catch. If you QT and are careful whenever you introduce new things. Then ich isn’t a concern imo
Powered blues are great. I have one that never show disease or stress though I have quarantined every fish in my new build so far and tank is on uv so disease presence is very minimal I would like to hope. He is the most aggressive of all my tangs but only shows it when I add a new tangs to the group but it only last for a day or two then he mellows out.
